Tim Cook joins US leaders as TSMC announces $40 billion investment to produce chips in Arizona

On Tuesday, Apple CEO joined President Biden and Arizona officials, in a televised event on the site where TSMC is constructing a semiconductor-based manufacturing plant set to open in 2024. As Apple expands its relationship with TSMC, the new factory will begin to produce Apple silicon in the US. Back in 2021, TSMC initially announced it’d invest $12 billion towards a fabrication plant. Carl Pei confirms Nothing is in talks with US carriers, “Phone (2) isn’t launching anytime soon"

The Nothing Phone (1) is a mid-range smartphone from a company founded by Carl Pei, one of the co-founders of OnePlus. When it launched, the Nothing Phone (1) would not be made available in the US just due to how difficult it is for emerging smartphone brands to be successful in the US market without a major partner as a carrier. In an interview with CNBC, this could change soon. Pei confirms that that Nothing is “in discussions with some carriers in the US to potentially launch a future product there,” and although he didn’t confirm whether it was a smartphone, it’s heavily implied with...

Realme GT Neo 5 rumored to come with 240W wired charging

The wireless charging war has basically been stopped in its tracks by the Chinese regulations mandating a 50W maximum, but there's no such limit for wired charging, and so Chinese smartphone makers keep amping up (excuse the easy pun) their systems every year. According to a new rumor from the prolific (and usually reliable) Digital Chat Station, Realme plans to take the wired charging crown from Redmi soon with its GT Neo 5 smartphone. This will allegedly come in two versions, one of them boasting a 4,600 mAh battery and 240W charging support. This is undoubtedly a variation of the 240W...

Apple's iPhone 14 Pro Max completes the rostrum, while Realme's 10 Pro+ gained another two spots this week to place fourth. We then find Apple iPhone XR in fifth, ahead of...

Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 now getting Android 13 and One UI 5.0

Samsung has been going at breakneck speeds with its Android 13 and One UI 5.0 update rollout. After its successor got the update back in mid-November, the Xcover 5 has now started receiving an Android 13, One UI 5.0 OTA. The package is available for the SM-G525F model in a dozen or so European countries. The OTA update also contains November 2022 Android security patches. The Galaxy X Cover 5 is a fairly unremarkable addition to Samsung's rugged lineup that came out last year. Android TV 13 is officially out

Android TV 13 is now officially out, but you probably shouldn't expect to see it on any consumer devices in the immediate future. This is more of a developer milestone than anything else since Android TV updates are generally on a slower and less broad schedule than regular Android ones. Even Google's own Chromecast devices just received Android TV 12 earlier this year. Even if you were to receive an OTA today, it's unlikely that you will notice any major changes since most of the new additions to version 13 are backend ones, targeting developers. The UI is mostly the same. You can...
