Google's Pixel 3a and 3a XL are receiving their last update by July

It may be easy to forget but Google hasn't always promised a ton of software support for its Pixel smartphones. As recently as three years ago the update promise was for three years of security updates. And guess what devices launched three years ago? The affordable Pixel 3a and 3a XL. So you know what that means, right? The May software update that Google started rolling out yesterday should have been their last one, but as usual the company is giving out a bonus update to devices reaching end-of-life, software-wise. This last update will be delivered to the Pixel 3a and 3a XL "by July",...

Google's Pixel foldable will have 5.8-inch outer screen

Google's foldable Pixel phone will have a smaller outer display and a similar-sized inner display to the Galaxy Z Fold4, per industry insider Ross Young. The Pixel Notepad, as rumor claims it will be called, will have a 5.8-inch outer display, wider and shorter than the Galaxy Z Fold4's 6.19-inch expected screen. Since the two foldables are rumored to have similar-sized folding displays, this means that the Pixel Notepad will have a wider aspect ratio than the Fold. This is corroborated by an earlier leak. Z Fold 4 and Google foldable will have similar sized foldable displays, but the...

Black Shark 5 Pro leads Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 domination of AnTuTu ranking in April

Latest ranking from AnTuTu revealed a Qualcomm domination both in the flagship and mid-range segments. Nine out of the top 10 best performing flagships run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, while seven out of the top 10 midrangers are powered by the Snapdragon 870. However, Dimensity 8100-powered devices managed to steal the first top spots in the mid-range competition, while the Black Shark 5 Pro dominated the most powerful segment. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 domination here is logical, given the fact Exynos 2200 phones are not selling in China, Dimensity 9000 devices are only now coming out...

Honor Magic4 Pro global release imminent, listings reveal

It seems Honor's Magic4 Pro is due to launch in Europe soon as the company’s French and UK online shops have listed the device. The French site reveals an early bird sales event taking place from May 1 – 30 with €100 coupons off the phone’s final price. The actual price was not detailed on the site but the phone was initially announced with a €1,099 asking price back in February during MWC so we can assume the early-bird coupon will bring it down to €999. Honor France is listing the Magic4 Pro in black and cyan colors but it remains to be seen if the Gold, White and Orange vegan...

Google sends out May update to Pixels with a fix for weak haptics on the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro

It's the first Monday of the month, so today we're treated to the latest Android software update from Google. The May update includes the usual security patches, of course, but it also comes with some Pixel-specific stuff. The most important of those probably has to do with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro devices and their haptics. After last month's update, owners of these phones noticed that notification vibrations were weaker than before, and now this should be fixed. Of course it shouldn't have been broken in the first place, but this is the next best thing, right? And it only took a...

Weekly poll results: OnePlus Ace/10R success hinges on the right pricing

Money, money, money – it always comes down to the price of a phone these days. The OnePlus Ace, which launched as the OnePlus 10R in India a few days ago, has potential, but the company has to hit the right price point. Many in the comments were wishing that this will be a sub-€400 phone in Europe, however, while we don’t know the exact price yet, the €450 price tag of the Realme GT Neo2 makes it unlikely. We do know the price for India: ₹39,000 for the base model (80W charging, 5,000 mAh battery) and ₹44,000 for the Endurance Edition (150W charging, 4,500 mAh battery). We mentioned the...
