Samsung to use solid-state batteries for upcoming rings, earbuds, and watches

Samsung is going to start using solid-state batteries for its wearables soon, as these can deliver higher energy density as well as more freedom to design them in weird shapes. That's because they use a solid electrolyte, unlike traditional lithium-ion batteries which have liquid electrolytes. Thus, solid-state batteries come with less of a fire risk, and Samsung knows a thing or two about battery fires so it would obviously want to do all it can to avoid them. This information comes from a new report out of Korea, which says Samsung's first product with a solid-state battery will be a...

Poco F7 Pro vs. Poco F7 Ultra

The Poco F series has taken a little shift in positioning this year, this time the Pro getting outdone by an Ultra, instead of having a vanilla model on its other side. That said, the F7 Pro retains all the goodness of the previous generation's Pro - it's just that the F7 Ultra now brings even more to the table. We'll do a thorough comparison between the two models to try and show you if the Pro is good enough, or now that there's an Ultra, that one is the way to go. Poco C71 runs Geekbench confirming its chipset

The Poco C71 will be launched on April 4 in India via Flipkart, and the brand itself started teasing it yesterday. Today, the device has been spotted in the Geekbench database. The listing has confirmed the fact that it's powered by the Unisoc T7250 SoC, which sort of confirms our theory that it's just a rebranded Redmi A5, since that model uses the same chipset too. The Poco ran Geekbench with 4GB of RAM, and it will also have a 6GB option. It will run Android 15. Flipkart has already revealed that the C71 comes with a 6.88-inch LCD screen with HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh...

Apple gets €150 million fine in France for its complex privacy options

France's competition watchdog has fined Apple €150 million (approximately $162 million at the current exchange rates) as it found that the company's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) system lets it abuse its dominance in the mobile app market. The initiative is pitched by Apple as a way to give users more control of their privacy, but the French authority says this harms small publishers and is "neither necessary for nor proportionate with" Apple wanting to protect its users' personal data. App Tracking Transparency launched back in 2021 and it forces app developers to show two pop-ups...

The phone's main camera will have a 35mm equivalent focal length, according to recent rumors. The teaser also confirms this as you can see below. The brand says it will be using a new large sensor for the main camera too, which will make for an interesting pairing with the 35mm focal length. As the device has already been...

Weekly poll results: the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate is an innovative form factor that has potential

Last week’s poll suggests that Huawei may have discovered the next popular form factor for foldables with the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate. The first tri-foldable drew a lot of interest, though the device itself may not be all that popular. Huawei knows this, of course, and the retail package is loaded like this is a premium limited edition – which it is, in some ways. Let’s look at the results – more than half of voters are interested in a tri-foldable. Again, the XT Ultimate probably isn’t it. Still, 22% voted that they want one, which is higher than we expected, given the device’s €3,500...

Samsung patent reveals 360-degree foldable device

Most of the foldable smartphones today are inward folding devices – the main screen is protected by the outer shell, and you have a smaller outer screen for notifications and basic tasks. Some makers like Huawei also have outward folding devices, which wrap the folding screen around the back of the device. While sleeker and more futuristic, these types of foldables are seriously compromised in terms of durability, as part of the display is always exposed. What if you could have a foldable that folds both inward and outward? Well, Samsung has patented such a device which was brought to...
